Carrollton Native Earns Blue Jacket of the Year Title

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Simuel LaBrian Hudson, a Carrollton native and 2009 graduate of Carrollton High School, was recently named Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads Blue Jacket of the Year for 2018. Hudson is an administrative clerk and tracks and maintains official correspondence, resolve pay and personnel administration issues, as well as being a liaison for Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads Sailors with Personnel Support Detachment Norfolk. This five-year veteran had this to say about his selection,” I am appreciative of my command for receiving the Blue Jacket of the Year Award and for being recognized for all of my hard work and dedication to our mission at Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads. I am proud to be able to represent the high standard to which the Navy holds its Sailors.” Hudson is currently enrolled in Saint Leo University and will graduate this summer with an Associates of Arts in General Studies. “I plan on completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management by Spring 2021,” said Hudson. “Serving in the Navy has helped me grow personally and professionally by allowing me to take on new challenges, be a leader, and by surrounding me with mentors and peers who push me to do my best every day.”When asked what he enjoyed most about being in the Navy, he replied,” I enjoy being given the opportunity to see the world and earn multiple degrees while serving my country.”
