Carrollton Main Street announced the Amp’s much-anticipated 2019 calendar with a schedule of concerts and movies sure to draw thousands of people to the city’s downtown amphitheater this summer.
“The downtown vibe is amped up more than ever this year,” said Main Street Director Aundi Lesley. “You won’t want to miss any of these concerts and movies. And while you’re downtown, enjoy the food, drinks, shopping and fun of Carrollton’s historic heart, Adamson Square.”
This year’s Summer Concert Series roster is packed with music legends and area favorites, starting with country star, Lee Ann Womack, on June 29. Veteran Georgia rockers, Mother’s Finest, rumble into the Amp July 20. In August, Irish Bred Pub presents the popular Journey tribute act, Departure, on the 24th and Ben Haggard and the Strangers bring the music of Ben’s dad, Merle, to town on the 31st. A concert showcasing local musicians will conclude the inaugural running of the Carrollton Half Marathon on September 7. The Summer Concert series is sponsored by Scott Evans.
The Amp’s Summer Movie Series features four current family favorites and three Hollywood classics: Mary Poppins Returns on June 13, Boss Baby on June 20, 10 Things I Hate About You on June 28, Ralph Breaks the Internet on July 11, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (PG version) on July 18, Grease on July 26 and Top Gun on August 23. The Tammie Pero Agency, Almon Funeral Home and Wren’s Body Shop are this year’s movie series sponsors.
Movies start at approximately 8:45 p.m. and concert opening acts start at approximately 7:30 p.m. All events at the Amp are free. The amphitheater’s season runs through October with several fall events still to be announced.
