R. K. Redding Construction (RKR) is proud to announce that for the 12th year in a row, the firm has been recognized with a top award from AGC Georgia, the statewide chapter of The Associated General Contractors of America, Inc. (AGC of America). The award was presented to RKR President & CEO Randall Redding at the AGC Build Georgia awards ceremony in Hilton Head Island, S.C. on June 8, 2019.
The following two RKR projects earned First Place in the Construction Group from AGC Georgia:
- Gordon Lee High School – new construction
- Red Bud Elementary School Gymnasium and Belwood Elementary School – renovation
“It’s an honor to receive these recognitions from AGC Georgia on behalf of the entire team,” said Redding. “At RKR, it is expected that we complete our projects with honesty, integrity and the highest level of customer service, but not at the cost of quality. It’s a testament to everyone at RKR that we’ve received a top honor for 12 consecutive years from AGC Georgia.”
Gordon Lee High School Build
Being the only high school in Chickamauga City, the school held sentimental value for many people in the community. This replacement high school was set to mimic the look of the old building, while still providing much needed space for the growing student population, as well as technology upgrades and classroom facilities meant for today’s learning environment. The team encountered a significant amount of rock, which had to be blasted in order to accommodate the underground utilities and make room for the building pad. The finished product exceeded the expectations of the school’s Board of Education.
Red Bud Elementary School Gymnasium / Belwood Elementary School Renovation
RKR managed two concurrent renovation projects within one school system with the same schedule. Having previous experience with RKR, Gordon County School leaders decided to put their trust in their team once more. With an aggressive schedule at hand, work began on both projects while school was still in session. This overlap necessitated containing the work to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty and staff members. Constant field supervision and careful planning were needed on both projects, which were 8.5 miles apart.
Recent AGC Georgia Awards for RKR include the following projects: Glynn Academy High School (2018), Lutheranch Retreat Center (2018), Polk County College and Career Academy (2018), Banneker High School Addition (2017), Alexander High School Competition Gymnasium (2016), Roopville Road Baptist Church Worship Center (2015), West Georgia Technical College Allied Healthcare Building (2014), Trinka Davis Veterans Village (2013), GT Boggs NRE Lab Renovation and UWG Campus Bookstore (2012), Paulding County High School Addition/Renovation (2011), UWG Greek Village (2010), North Paulding School Cluster (2009) and Rockmart Middle School (2008).
