With plans for a big family, Shonda Daniel was inspired to create a clothing line offering parents unique and affordable fashion for their children. Through her creative design, Shonda’s clothing line Once Upon A Boutique recently reached its fourth successful year of selling through an online store and Facebook group. Now Shonda is embarking on the journey of opening her first brick and mortar for children’s clothing.

Once Upon A Boutique’s soon-to-open storefront located at 131 West Bankhead Highway, Villa Rica, Georgia, will host its grand opening Saturday, September 14 beginning at 10:00 a.m. During the grand opening well-known fictional characters Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Elsa from Frozen, and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story will greet kids and parents. In addition, there will be face painting and light refreshments, plus the first 20 customers will receive a swag bag.

Looking back Shonda tells us she was seven months pregnant with twins when she made the decision that led to the start of her clothing line. Now a full-time clothing designer, business owner, and mother of eight, she says her children are the reason she works. She shares, “Owning and operating a business allows me to teach my children the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. My boutique also allows me to live my life with more intent. I believe in turning strangers into friends whom I pray with and minister to.”

She continues, “After growing up in Carrollton and graduating from Villa Rica High School, I always wanted to give back. I am now an active Trojan and Wildcat sponsor. My late-mother poured philanthropy into my life, and in her honor I give back as much as I can.”

Shonda also credits Cristi and Tano Phommasith, owners of the Little Hawaiian restaurant in Carrollton, where she worked and received an abundance of business sense.

The boutique will sell the Once Upon A Boutique clothing line plus well-established clothing lines such as Kissy Kissy, Angel Dear, L’Amour, Le’ Za Me, Paty Inc., and Great Pretenders. It will open Thursday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
