Comedian, motivational speaker and cancer survivor, Karen Mills, will administer a dose of the best medicine – laughter – November 7, at the Carrollton Center for the Arts.
“During our performance season this year, we wanted to engage a comedian that had clean material, but still hilarious,” said Carrollton Arts Superintendent Tim Chapman. “Karen Mills is that comedian. She will have you laughing until you cry. Laughter to tears to me is the best emotion of all.”
Mills is a 25-year veteran of stand-up comedy who draws from her own survival and the everyday struggles of modern life to entertain audiences around the country.
Diagnosed with cancer in 2013, Karen was determined to take on the disease with hope and humor. In 2016, she presented her talk, Cancer is a Laughing Matter, at TEDxChattanooga and was recently featured on Robin Roberts’ Thriver Thursday.
Mills’ positive message, strong stage presence and ability to bring humor and inspiration to difficult topics has made her a sought-after keynote speaker for a variety of audiences, including survivor events, women’s health conferences and commencement addresses. She can be heard daily on Sirius / XM comedy channels and she just released her new Dry Bar comedy special, Pink Pants.
Local classic and country rock band, Dakota Dodge, will open the show. This event is sponsored by Milestone Investment Management.
