Mentoring Village announced Lauren Holverson has been named program coordinator of the nonprofit devoted to providing credentialing services for mentoring programs and their volunteers in the effort to provide young people with positive role models who will help them to discover their value to the community.
Holverson, a small business owner and the former Director of The Burson Center, has committed her time to working with small businesses and nonprofits throughout West Georgia. She succeeds Cathy Robinson, who launched the organization towards success and built strong community relationships.
“Mentoring Village is an opportunity to positively influence our young people through mentoring, which builds a stronger and more successful community,” Lauren Holverson said. “I’m really excited about this next step for the organization, and I can’t wait to see where we can go.”
Holverson holds a master’s degree from the University of West Georgia and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama, where she studied marketing. She currently serves on the executive board for Ferst Readers, which addresses one of the most basic issues of childhood literacy-ensuring the availability of quality books.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Mentoring Village forward. The organization is poised to really strengthen its collaborations within the community and to further provide volunteers with the tools they need to achieve success. I look forward to taking the organization to the next level with the help of our board and community. It’s no secret that mentored students are more successful,” Holverson said.
