Officials with the city of Villa Rica have confirmed that the new construction at the corner of Highway 61 and Northeast Hickory Level Road will be a new Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
During a Villa Rica city council meeting August 27, 2019, Villa Rica voted “Yes” to annexation and commercial zoning for a large tract of land at the corner of Georgia Highway 61 and Northeast Hickory Level Road, which was originally destined for Kroger.
Another city council meeting was held January 28, 2020, to discuss sidewalk requirements. Those requirements set forth in the application approval were waived by city council, ultimately leading to the approval of Popeyes.
Currently the only development on the site will be Popeyes on less than an acre of land immediately at the corner of the intersection. According to city officials, a sit-down restaurant is also in the works for the tract of land.
