Central High FFA Student Earns State Proficiency Honors

Daniel Walker

Central High School FFA senior Daniel Walker earned 1st place in the Georgia FFA Area 1 Turfgrass Management Proficiency Award Competition. In addition, Daniel was selected as the North Region State Finalist.

Recognition at the state level stems from Daniel’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program. As a 9th grader, Daniel began his turfgrass management SAE in his agriculture education course. As his interest and knowledge base began to excel, Daniel started a small business called Superior Lawncare and Landscaping.

Student participation in turfgrass management involves the planting and maintaining of turf for outdoor beautification, owning a lawn mowing service, improving recreational areas, producing sod for sale, and managing golf courses.

Daniel will interview for the Georgia FFA Proficiency State title at the convention scheduled in Macon this April. Ms. Laura Williford and Ms. Nikhol Dysart are Central High School agriculture teachers.
