Sports Turf Company to Install New Performance Surfaces at Three Carroll County High Schools

Sports Turf Company, a specialty sports construction and surfacing company, is excited to announce that it has been awarded projects at three Carroll County high schools. All of these installations will be completed prior to the 2020-2021 school year in August.

The three projects in Carroll County include:

  • Mt. Zion High School – installing a synthetic turf field and resurfacing the stadium track
  • Bowdon High School – installing an artificial turf field
  • Central High School – resurfacing the stadium track

“As a Carroll County-based company, the team at Sports Turf is honored to have an opportunity to provide our community and its athletes the safest and most durable surfaces to showcase their skills,” said Todd Wiggins, President of Sports Turf Company.

Sports Turf Company is quickly becoming the go-to expert for a variety of field and track installations throughout the state. Sports Turf Company’s solution for these surfaces includes prioritizing safety and durability. The company was recently awarded the renovation project in Cobb County for 16 athletic fields.

The track projects at Mt. Zion High School and Central High School include new surfacing on all eight lanes, D zones and runway surfaces. Upon completion, the new Spurtan BS synthetic track surface will endure higher wear and traffic along with providing enhanced force reduction.

Mt. Zion High School and Bowdon High School’s fields will feature AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D3 Blend turf system, Brock Powerbase YSR shock pad, and BrockFILL. AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D3 Blend is a performance artificial turf system that combines slit film and monofilament fibers for optimum durability. The revolutionary Brock Powerbase YSR shock pad technology features large drainage channels, shock-absorbing structures and 25mm thickness to improve player safety and provide more effective drainage. BrockFILL is the latest in alternative infills and is sustainably grown and harvested here in Georgia. The unique properties of the wood infill, BrockFILL, decreases field temperatures and gives the feel of a more natural surface with increased traction and footing for athletes.

“The new fields and tracks constructed by Sports Turf Company will give the area’s students the highest caliber surfaces available,” said Carroll County School System Superintendent Scott Cowart. “Our community comes together as one to enjoy watching and cheering high school sports, and we are so excited to install these new fields and tracks.”
