Around lunchtime on Thursday, three UGA-alum small business owners from the downtown Newnan area gathered together to provide 100 meals from Redneck Gourmet to Piedmont Hospital. Sara Knox-Rund of Knox Furniture, Ryan Brown of J. Ryan Brown Law, and Sydney Sherrod of Finley’s Boutique all graduated from the University of Georgia and moved back to Newnan to become owners of their businesses.
Sydney tells us, “Even though times are extremely tough for small businesses right now, I feel that it is our duty to do whatever we can to support the front line health care workers. I’m so grateful that my friends, fellow local entrepreneurs and UGA grads could come together to accomplish this to show our appreciation to 100 warriors who risk their lives fighting the virus and in doing so making our community safer.”
Ryan expresses his thankfulness, “We are grateful for the dedication that these medical professionals have given to our community during the course of this pandemic. This was a way I could team up with a couple of other UGA grads as well as Redneck Gourmet to try and support the frontline workers as they stand between us and the virus!”
The meals were loaded onto the dock of Piedmont Hospital and the hospital heroes were overwhelmed with gratitude.
Sara Knox-Rund, third generation to Knox Furniture runs sales and social media, closes, “Now more than ever, it is important to make a difference in our local community. It is critical we help lift, inspire, and motivate each other during this unprecedented time. Knox Furniture is so appreciative of our front-line medical workers and the sacrifices they make for our community. As a local business, we are honored to do a little part in acknowledging these heroes.”
