Family Dollar will soon join the downtown district of Heflin. The former Fred’s is soon going to be home to Family Dollar at 731 Ross Street. Family Dollar had recently released construction bid plans for a total conversion of the former Fred’s.
Heflin Director of Economic Development Tanya Maloney tells us, “Obviously we were very disappointed to lose Fred’s, but we are really excited to have Family Dollar take its place.”
Tanya also mentions that the new store is expected to do well because residents are looking to shop locally. She adds, “Family Dollar will be a great addition to our downtown commercial district which makes up around ten retail shops.”
On a side note, The city recently applied for a grant to connect sidewalks from the recreation department to the new assisted living facility which is scheduled to open in late summer.
