Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors are scheduled to reopen the Liberty Road Bridge over I-20 at the Carroll County/Douglas County line beginning on July 15.  The bridge was closed to traffic and detours installed for approximately 45 days to provide safety for workers and drivers in the area while bridge rehabilitation activities were performed.

When: Weather and on-site conditions permitting, the Liberty Road bridge will reopen to traffic on Wednesday, July 15, by 7:00 p.m.

Where: Liberty Road Bridge (exit 26) over I-20 in Villa Rica, Carroll County.

Advisory: Bridge rehabilitation includes raising the structures’ vertical clearance, bridge deck preservation (with polymer overlay), painting of steel beams, joint replacement where necessary and stabilizing the superstructures and substructures. Motorists will be alerted of the closures by signage, cones and barrels in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use signed detours, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
