Mixing Great Comfort Food With Retro Fun

(Last Updated On: September 16, 2020)

On Friday, September 4, at 6:00 a.m., a unique restaurant opens with a nod to some of our favorite cartoon characters, sports heroes, and more.  Rodney and Willene (Lene) Brown’s new restaurant—B’s Kitchen and Catering—is ready to serve the community delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a family-friendly and fun atmosphere. (Try the biscuits and gravy for starters!)

The take-out cafe is the culmination of Rodney’s 15-year dream shared with his wife Willene. After seeing the Greenville Station Shopping Center at 226 Greenville Street being built out, Rodney felt that now was the time to move on his dream, and Willene agreed.

Not satisfied with an ordinary interior design and menu, Rodney coordinated the menu and the decoration to pay homage to some of his favorite characters, including Popeye, Bevis and Butthead, the Smurfs, the Little Rascals, and the movie The Sandlot. Rodney encourages the community to come in and see and taste for themselves.

B’s Kitchen is a friendly family-run business, focusing on take-out, but offering a few tables if you prefer to eat there. The menu ranges from specialty hamburgers, scrumptious ¼ pound all-beef hotdogs named after sports teams, healthy salads named after the Smurfs, Lene’s hot wings named after his wife, and a special “soul food plate” every Monday through Thursday. The Friday and Saturday special is baby back ribs! B’s is closed on Sunday, so Rodney can fulfil his duty as a minister.

Rodney is thankful to all the people who helped make B’s Kitchen and Catering a reality. This list includes the Newnan departments of Building and Health, Newnan Utilities, the Newnan Fire Department, and all those friends who offered advice and support, including Chad Smith, owner of the Mad Mexican, construction builder David Moreno, Pastor Antoine Martin of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, and Pastor Dudley of Greater Love Baptist Church. Also Rodney sends thanks to his Mom and Dad, Brad and Belinda Gibbs, and Aunt Carolyn Williams.

“Most of all I give thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this blessing and to my family. I love you all. Philippians 4:13 ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’” Rodney says.

So, set a reminder to do something different this Friday and visit B’s Kitchen and Catering for a remarkable Southern styled breakfast, or later for a juicy hamburger and crisp fries or delicious hot wings. You will be glad you did!
