No Need for Sauce, Twisted Steel Barbecue Bringing Decades of Experience to Whitesburg

Michele and Tony Casteel opened Twisted Steel Barbecue in September 2020, and it is quickly becoming a staple of the Whitesburg community. From tender smoked brisket, to juicy pulled pork, even smoked mac and cheese, Twisted Steel Barbecue will satisfy the appetite and palate of any barbecue lover.

The name Twisted Steel came from a way to describe the restaurant and its owners. “The name Steel came from our last name, Casteel, and we always joke there is nothing ‘normal’ about us, we were always a little twisted,” said Michele. “From there, Twisted Steel Barbecue was born.”

Fan favorites at Twisted Steel are their famous pork grilled cheese sandwich, brisket burgers and, of course, the smoked mac and cheese. In addition to these famous specialties, Twisted Steel also offers made-from-scratch desserts, all made in house. You will definitely want to try their classic banana pudding, bourbon pecan pie, and seasonal smoked cobblers.

“We are open for dine in and carry out,” said Michele. “We also have a drive through and a patio and accept orders online and over the phone.” Twisted Steel can be found on Facebook and in Instagram at twistedsteelbbq. They also have an app on ios and android: Twisted Steel Barbecue LLC.

Although not yet a year old, Twisted Steel looks forward to serving the community for many years to come. “We love the small town feel and all the great people we get to meet,” said Michele. “The locals have all been very welcoming.”

“This restaurant has been more than a decade in the making,” Michele continued. “Thousands of hours of work and training have gone into the recipes on our menu. Our little place in the heart of Whitesburg is just what we imagined when we finally decided to take the leap. Our large family enjoys eating out and believes there is no greater experience than amazing food, great service, and good people.”

Check out Twisted Steel when you have your next craving for barbecue food! They are located at 665 Main Street in Whitesburg.
