The Carrollton Artist Guild’s Creative Perspectives and Play exhibit, opening February 18 at the Center for the Arts, encourages artists and patrons to expand their worldview through the exploration of different subjects and new media. The show runs through March 25 and features selected works from guild members in a variety of themes and media. Works included in this exhibit were selected by a guest judge.
“This annual exhibition is a highlight of the gallery season,” Arts Superintendent Tim Chapman said. “Showcasing the work of fellow artists illustrates how our local artists continue to improve and evolve as artisans.” There will be an opening reception on February 18, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. In conjunction with the exhibit, the center will host two Gallery Play workshops on March 20, designed to enhance a participant’s understanding of art shown in the center’s galleries:
Gallery Play: Group Collaboration and Trade 10 – 11:30 a.m.
Ages: 8 – 12: $10 (all materials included)
Participants are paired with other artists to make shared artwork pieces.
Gallery Play: Group Collaboration and Trade for Teens and Adults
Ages and Times: 13 – 17, 12 – 2pm; 18 – Adult, 3 – 5pm: $15 (all materials included)
Portrait drawing with a twist: shared portraits using mixed-drawing media.
