Three Central High School Students Heading to Governor’s Honors

Three Central High School students will be participating in the Governor’s Honors Program this summer. Will Smith earned a spot in the area of music. Charlee Causey and Alexa Wagner qualified in the area of Agriculture Research, Biotechnology, and Science. Charlee qualified for Governor’s Honors last year, but due to restrictions, the summer program was put on hold. She will join the summer program this year.

The Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors and seniors during the program. The program offers instruction that is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.

Principal Mr. Jared Griffis stated, “We are extremely proud of these students. The summer experience gives the students a total immersion in academic and cultural enrichment, complimenting what they’ve learned in the classroom.”
