Early 1900s Meets 2021: What’s old is new again, and even has a new name! Randolph Williamson’s construction team recently finished renovations to the historic Train Depot in Fayetteville, now known as The Fayette Depot.
Under the guidance of new owners, April and David Mowell, some historic elements were preserved while bringing the space fully into the modern day era.
“We are excited to re-open The Fayette Depot as an ideal rental space for small to mid-size events,” explains April Mowell. “It will be available to individuals and businesses.” The Mowells also own the Mowell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, adjacent to the property. Crossover use between the two is planned.
The interior 2,000 square feet marries shiny and new with antique charm, but one highlight of the space is found outside. Events can spill out onto a brand new 1,300 square foot open air deck, from which one could nearly reach out and touch the “Welcome to Fayetteville” water tower. The venue is located at 250 East Lanier Avenue, just in front of the landmark.
“We appreciate the Mowell Family entrusting us with this project,” says Mark Williamson, President of Construction for Randolph Williamson. “It was a pleasure to partner with them on this unique job.”
Though now under private ownership, The Fayette Depot enjoys its own local history. Built in the early 1900s, the Train Depot was moved in 1986 from its original location to the current address. It was once home to the City of Fayetteville’s Main Street offices and welcome center. Fitting that it will again welcome visitors soon!
