Mount Zion Middle School Educator Named Finalist for the 2022 Georgia Teacher of the Year

The Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) announced today the 2022 Georgia Teacher of the Year finalists, and Tewanna Brown, Business and Computer Science Teacher at Mount Zion Middle School, was one of only 10 state finalists selected.

“Tewanna Brown is a tremendous asset to not only Mount Zion Middle School but also to the entire district. We are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished and her commitment to serving as both a premier teacher and premier leader for her students and peers,” shared Connie Robison, Principal of Mount Zion Middle School.

Brown is an alumnus of Mount Zion High School. She earned her undergraduate degree in Business Education and a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from the University of West Georgia (UWG). Brown is currently pursuing an Ed.S. degree in Instructional Technology from UWG.

In addition to being named a finalist for Georgia’s Teacher of the Year, Brown was the 2021 Carroll County Teacher of the Year. She has earned the title of Mount Zion Middle School Teacher of the Year twice, the GBEA Teacher of the Year, and she was chosen to serve on Governor Nathan Deal’s Teacher Advisory Board in 2014.
