If you find peace by indulging in a baked good from time to time, then Carrollton has a place coming soon to help you with that. Peace in Cupcakes is moving into the former Trends & Blends space at Westover Square. While the name may be familiar to some as they have been in business online for a year this month, 949 Maple Street will be their first physical location.
Owners Mandy Peace and Morgan King both have years of experience in the baking business and have been working full-time bakery jobs while building their business to fulfill a dream. “I’ve always wanted to open my own bakery,” explained Mandy. “We were going to do craft shows and other events, but then COVID happened.” “That gave us time to plan mentally for this and to build our clientele through Facebook,” Morgan added.
In addition to cupcakes, the bakery plans to sell macarons, macaroons, cookies, and cakes, and to take orders for wedding and birthday cakes. They will also offer coffee supplied locally by Bowdon Coffee Roasters. They’re thinking possibly to add cinnamon rolls and muffins in the future, and perhaps offer pies around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The owners want to assure patrons that nothing out of a box will ever be used. “Everything is freshly made from scratch completely. We won’t be using cake mixes, so it will be just like if your grandmother made it with flour, sugar, and real butter. Even the icings will be made from scratch,” Mandy said. “Being that it’s homemade, the customers know it will taste good but some might worry if it will look good.” “They find that it looks just as good as it tastes!” Morgan said with a smile.
Peace in Cupcakes is still putting the final touches on their location, but they hope to open within a few weeks with the operating hours of Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Stay tuned to The City Menus, or to their Facebook and Instagram pages for their grand opening announcement.
