Carroll County School Board voted to make an investment in the health and safety of employees and our community through a one-time vaccine supplement for certified and classified staff at the Thursday night board meeting. Fighting COVID-19 while providing a premier education for Carroll County families has been top priority. At this time, medical professionals state that vaccines are the best way to stop the spread of COVID-19. This supplement will be funded using Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) federal funds.
The BOE approval comes as the school system gears up to partner with Tanner Health Systems by offering a free vaccine clinic for all staff, students, and the public. The clinic, providing the Pfizer vaccine, will be held on September 1st from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center, 775 Old Newnan Road, Carrollton, Georgia. The district will be working with schools ensuring employees and students may be released to attend the clinic. Students will need to have a parent/guardian present or provide a signed release prior to receiving the vaccine. The release form will be emailed from Tanner after registration. Anyone interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine must register at http://www.tanner.org/CarrollCountySchools.
Superintendent Scott Cowart expressed appreciation to the Board of Education for continuing to invest in the district’s employees and in the health and safety of students and staff. The supplement approved by the Board is another way of recognizing all employees who have chosen vaccination as a way to help the school system do everything possible to keep students in school while protecting and supporting Carroll County Schools’ workforce and families.
