Today, the ability to connect to the internet and to each other is more important than ever. For this reason, local business-class communications provider, SyncGlobal Telecom, has created a new residential broadband company to serve local communities in rural Georgia. The new brand is Crossbeam, and work is underway to permanently solve the rural broadband gap in West Georgia.
Appropriate for a company that specializes in fiber optic broadband services, the Crossbeam name and logo represent intersecting beams of light. In a fiber optic network, data is transmitted as pulses of light through fiber strands made of glass. Symbolically, the light illuminates and connects us to each other as we unite to share and communicate our communities’ values.
The first phase of the residential project unites SyncGlobal/Crossbeam with Carroll EMC to deliver fiber broadband to Carroll EMC members. Phase 1 of this project is a 24- to 36-month network buildout totaling more than 800 route miles of fiber. When complete, Phase 1 will make high-speed broadband available to nearly 10,000 locations across 200 square miles in parts of Carroll, Haralson, and Heard counties. Construction is starting now, with initial customer activations slated to begin in the second quarter of 2022.
Residential internet will be initially offered at metro-level speeds of 150 Mbps, 350 Mbps, and 1 Gbps. As internet capacity demand grows, the fiber network will scale to meet the need.
“Establishing this fiber infrastructure is perhaps the single most important step to ensure our community can grow and thrive in decades to come,” said Kyle Williamson CEO of SyncGlobal. “Crossbeam internet service will be life-changing for many in the area who have little or no access to the internet.”
