UPDATE 4/21: Taco Bell Construction to Start Soon, Project is up to bid, meaning they are looking for a contractor to start construction.
Two outparcel lots at Maple Street Commons may be seeing tacos and coffee respectively in the near future. During a discussion regarding a related rezoning request at the City of Carrollton work session on Thursday, March 17, it was revealed that plans are in the review stage for a Taco Bell and an Ellianos Coffee at the corner of Maple Street Crossing and Maple Street at the intersection with the bypass. While many are familiar with Taco Bell as this would be Carrollton’s third location for the chain, Ellianos is a newer but fast-growing coffee chain known for its drive-thru only service selling hot and cold beverages, smoothies and other cafe-type food fare. Currently, Ellianos has three nearby locations in Lithia Springs, Dallas, and Rockmart, with another location slated for Bremen according to their website.
Also at the work session, the City Council awarded a bid to build a new fire station at 300 Centennial Drive across from Central High School. This would replace the current station located adjacent to the high school. Local construction company J&R Construction has been awarded the bid.
