A walk/run/bike 5K event August 13 will celebrate the opening of the Alabama Street Spur of the Carrollton GreenBelt. “I’m so excited about this new GreenBelt spur,” said Councilmember Jacqulene Bridges. “It will bring more parts of our community together and the new park is just beautiful.” The new spur connects Legends West Park with the Alabama Street GreenBelt Trailhead on the Little Tallapoosa River. The 5K will begin and end at Carrollton’s Legends Park at 425 Willie North Street in Carrollton, starting at 8am. There will be inflatables and other family-friendly activities throughout the morning, awards for the top male and female finishers and age group awards for the top two in 10-year age brackets. Runners who have registered for the Carrollton Half Marathon can participate in this event for free. Otherwise, the signup fee will be $20. Registration ends August 12.
