City of LaGrange employee Brenda Leverett honored for 30 years of service

The City of LaGrange is honoring Accounting Specialist Brenda Leverett for her dedicated 30 years of service.

Leverett received her 30-year service pin at the LaGrange City Council meeting Tuesday (10/11) night. She received the pin with her husband Joe Leverett, mom Libby Edwards, daughter Kendall Ham and granddaughter Annabelle Ham by her side. Brenda began her career with the City of LaGrange over 30 years ago. Her first day of employment was October 6, 1992.

Brenda was hired to fill the position of Accounting Clerk I in the Finance Department under the supervision of Accounting Manager Betty South. She and Betty worked together for 12 years before Betty’s retirement and remained close friends for years. As the years progressed, Brenda was promoted from Accounting Clerk I to Accounting Clerk II and finally Accounting Specialist. She completed several Finance Officer Courses at the University of Georgia and earned her Accounting I and II certificates. Brenda has always been very active in the community and has donated her time to various charities, organizations & events. She is typically the first person to step up and offer her help and expertise, and the last to go home once the event has ended.

Over the years, she has volunteered at many City-sponsored events such as Sweetland concerts, employee Sweetland on Ice skate nights, employee Spirt Day picnics & the Braves Trophy Tour to name a few. She has also been an American Cancer Society volunteer for over 16 years and is the City’s Relay for Life -Team Captain. As the Team Captain she is responsible for fundraising and the City Slicker’s annual Christmas Parade float. Brenda has been a devoted employee for the past 30 years.
