CJO Brings Fall Concert to Arts Center Thursday

The Carrollton Jazz Orchestra welcomes the season, big-band style, with its Fall Concert, November 10 at the Carrollton Center for the Arts.

The CJO show is built around a program of big band hits including Count Basie’s “Wind Machine” and “Basie Straight Ahead,” John Coltraine’s “Naima” and Thad Jones’s “Blues in Another Minute.”

“We are hoping to attract a lot of people who are attending a big band concert for the first time,” said the CJO’s pianist, Terry Lowry. “We think this band, playing this program, will make jazz fans out of them.”

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for those 12 and younger and are available online at carrolltonarts.com, by phone at 770-838-1083 and at the center’s box office at 251 Alabama Street in Carrollton.
