The 60th mural in the Georgia Mural Trail is now complete for everyone to see in Villa Rica! Join the celebration on Thursday, March 16th, when the display will be revealed and commemorated.
Janet Chumley, Tourism Director for Villa Rica, states that the mural not only has a story of its own, but one of the artist’s dedication, even in the face of the ultimate obstacle.
“It was an exciting project for us to be a part of, but filled with some sadness as we lost the very talented artist, John Christian, in the process,” she acknowledges. She adds, however, “His family and friends, along with his son Michael and brother Ed were able to complete [it], and for that we [as a city] are very thankful.”
Christian’s legacy as a Georgia muralist adds to the wealth of beauty our citizens can enjoy. His work can be seen throughout our state, highlighting historical accomplishments and culture.
Visitors can park in the lot behind Carl Peabody CPA and walk to the corner of Main Street and North Avenue, where the mural is painted on the southwest wall of Hixtown Brewery. The ribbon- cutting ceremony will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on March 16th. We hope to see you there! You can learn more about the Georgia Mural Trail on Facebook or by visiting their website at georgiamuraltrail.com.
