Harbor Freight Is Indeed Coming to Carrollton

The rumors and speculations have finally turned true for Harbor Freight coming to Carrollton. During the summer of last year the rumors started swirling along with confirmed reports from Harbor Freight that they were looking over a location in Carrollton for a future store. Months went by, and the plans seemed to have faded.

We spoke to Craig Hoffman, Director of Corporate Communications with Harbor Freight who tells us, “We’ve been looking to add a location in Carroll County, and specifically in Carrollton for a while now, but we always believe in waiting until we find a location that meets our needs and the needs of our customers: good visibility, easy access, ample parking and the right square footage.  This particular location, the site of the former Sears Hardware store, will be 19,700 square feet which, while on the larger side for a Harbor Freight Tools store is still smaller than the so-called “Big Box” stores in our category, which we feel is a competitive advantage. Many of our customers are professional trades workers who want to stop in, find what they need and then head out quickly to their job site or workshop. For other customers, this size makes it easier to browse and find our great deals. All our customers will find a full selection of quality tools and accessories in categories including automotive, air and power tools, storage, outdoor power equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment, hand tools and more, at lowest prices, which has been our mission since we began more than 45 years ago.”

He also mentions, “We’re particularly excited about this location, as it will be our first store in Carroll County, and our 51st in Georgia.  We’re also excited because it will be much more convenient for our customers in the Carrollton community. Currently, they have to travel about 20 miles to our Douglasville store or 24 miles to our location in Newnan.”

Harbor Freight is looking for several qualified applicants to join their team. Craig tells us that the new store is bringing 25-30 jobs to the Carrollton community which was one of the reasons for the Harbor Freight opening in Carrollton. He says, “We consider ourselves to be one of the best places to work in the retail industry, with highly competitive pay, great benefits and the opportunity to advance in one of the fastest growing companies in retail.  We were recently certified as a “Best Place to Work ™ and we’ve been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 20 Best Employers in Retail for three years in a row, and one of the top Employer for Veterans for three years as well. They’ve also recognized us as one of the Best Employers for Women, and for Diversity, an honor we’ve also received from Diversityjobs.com for two years as well.”

Interested applicants can apply online at www.harborfreightjobs.com/retail and search “Carrollton, GA”. The new Carrollton location should open by mid Summer.
