Lightning Thief Brings Music and Mythology to Arts Center

Carrollton’s Teen Theater program will present a musical adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling book, The Lightning Thief, July 27 – 30 at the Center for the Arts.

“As a child, I loved the action and creatures in films about Greek mythology,” said Arts Center Manager Tim Chapman  “I am so proud of the cast of this year’s teen musical. They have worked hard to bring combat action, great music, choreography, incredible costumes and special effects to our stage.”

When teenager Percy Jackson discovers he’s a demigod, he and his friends embark on a journey to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt and prevent a war among the gods. This musical, which opened on Broadway in 2019, features an original rock score.

The show is sponsored by Oak Mountain Academy.

Tickets are $15, $10 for 12 and younger and are available online at carrolltonarts.com, by phone at 770-838-1083 and at the center’s box office at 251 Alabama Street in Carrollton.
