UPDATE: Since the approval from the Carrollton City Council, the Pollard brothers, owners of the future Dream City Brewing Company have entered the early stages of renovations of the building and are now estimating opening around March 2024.

There may be a new microbrewery on the way to Carrollton, pending an official vote from the Carrollton City Council. According to Community Development Director Erica Studdard, the applicant Joel Pollard, on behalf of Dream City Brewing Company, is requesting a special use permit in the C-1 (Central Business District) at 120 Newnan Street in order to establish a microbrewery in the existing building, formerly Alley Cat Cafe. The establishment would also offer coffee and tea to establish a business that is both family friendly and suitable for non-drinkers by having alternatives to craft beer available. The .07 acres of property is located one block away from Adamson Square.
The 1,800-square-foot building was home to Alley Cat Cafe for 19 years. Considering that serving alcohol was not a problem for the past two decades at that location, it is unlikely the request to operate a nano-brewery would be denied for that reason. The building is under contract to be purchased by Pollard Creative, L. L. C., which consists of two brothers, Joel and Chris Pollard, who have “long dreamed of going into business together” along with their wives, Katie and Ashley Pollard respectively. Along with the request, a conceptual development was presented featuring the potential Dream City’s having a rollup garage door, updated signage, a brighter interior aesthetic and decor featuring local artists, and an updated bar featuring beer taps and coffee/tea service. The council will take their official vote on this request June 5 at 6:00 P. M.
