With a new school year beginning today for the Coweta County School System, we wanted to wish everyone a great first day of school!
The Coweta Community Foundation knows how important education is to a community, and it’s for that very reason that we’ve long supported efforts that benefit local students and educators. We’ve supported nonprofits like CLICK and Coweta Ferst Readers, both of which aim to improve literacy, and we’ve given many Classroom Grants, which are specifically targeted to teachers who wish to offer new programs and projects to their students. In addition we support our next generation of student leaders with our Community Service Team and Fiscal Sponsor Agencies like Coweta STEM Institute and Stepping Stones, both focused on education.
We’re also proud to have many educators past and present serving here at the Foundation. Our current board chair, Cynthia Bennett, is a retired Coweta County teacher, and our immediate past president, Dean Jackson, serves as public information officer for the Coweta County School System. We’re also proud to have Tonya Whitlock, vice president of student affairs for West Georgia Technical College, as a member of our board of directors.
If you’re interested in supporting any of our educational initiatives or know someone who should apply for a Classroom Grant during that particular grant cycle later this year, please visit cowetafoundation.org for more information.
We wish you all a great school year!
