The City of Newnan’s Tree Commission has reinstituted a former awards program to recognize commercial and residential construction projects within the City of Newnan. The annual program acknowledges projects that demonstrate excellence in either landscaping or tree preservation as part of their overall development. Mike Furbush, the City’s Landscape Architect, Arborist, and staff liaison for the Tree Commission, said that it was unfortunate that an award was not given to a new commercial or residential development for tree preservation. Furbush stated that the Commission would have liked to have given out the award but did not recognize a worthy recipient.
