Central High School’s Junior Forestry Team placed 1st in the Area 1 Northwest Georgia Career Development Event held in Rockmart earlier this week. Team members are Tucker Simmons, Wyatt Harmon, Jacob Myrie, Drew Stapleton, and Hunter Lanier.

The Forestry Career Development Event (CDE) requires students to demonstrate their skills in diagnosing forest disorders, managing forests and forest inventory and applying approved silviculture practices. The competing teams demonstrate skills and competencies resulting from forestry instruction in the agricultural education classroom. During competition students respond to a forest industry scenario with problem solving using forestry skills and tools. The team also provides a presentation about a national or regional forestry issue.

The Junior Forestry Team will compete at the state CDE at the FFA/FCCLA Camp in Covington, Georgia on March 16. Central High School’s agriculture instructors are Mr. Stanley Clarke and Ms. Allie Bridges.
