Carrollton Parks and Recreation Department invites everyone to the grand opening of its new mountain bike trail, March 2 from 11am – 2pm at Lakeshore Park.
“The new GreenBelt Offroad mountain bike trails in East Carrollton and Lakeshore parks feature nearly three miles of professionally built MTB trails with berms, curves and rolling hills,” said Senior Superintendent Parks, Facilities and Public Grounds Kent Johnston. “Try out the pump track in the woods at Castle Playground. Or ride the Downhill area at Lakeshore Park behind Barry Carroll Field with its four downhill paths made for railing around the corners and catching air on the jumps.”
MTB Atlanta will co-host with CPRD and have hamburgers, hotdogs and drinks. There will be a few trail rides and a downhill ride in the specialized area in the woods behind the Lakeshore pool and beside that area of the GreenBelt. There are also a couple of long sections of cross country trail that can be ridden in conjunction with sections of the Carrollton GreenBelt.”
Cyclists should bring their own bike and a helmet. Riders younger than 16 should have a parent attend with them. There will be a few rides with leaders to show groups around the trails.
Adam Alvord with West Georgia Cycling will also be on site to promote the event and lead rides.
