Hillory Griffin is the proud owner of Twigs and Berries, a unique place to shop for collectibles, gifts, and home décor. The shop’s first home opened at 1681 Vernon Road in Lagrange eight years ago but has relocated a short distance away to Suite 111 on 2120 Vernon Street in the Publix Center. The idea for Twigs and Berries came about when Hillory came home from her last semester at college. Both she and her mom loved to decorate and liked to shop for quirky, fun, and colorful items, but usually ended up going out of town to get what they wanted. After a while both Hillory and her mom decided to take a shot at opening their own shop.
Twigs and Berries carries an infusion of Boho Funky styles, Natural Life, Jane Marie Tyler Candles, and Jim Shore Collectibles. Adding to these items there are Melissa and Doug toys, hair clips, caps, cups, duffle bags; with Easter approaching rapidly, Hillory also has oodles of trinkets to stock any child’s Easter basket. To tell you everything this shop holds inside its four walls would fill a novel, certainly too long for an article. Yet, one could spend hours just looking at all the elegant, fun, and unique items to buy.
Hillory’s part-time helper Miss Vickey has become a life-long friend and was there for Hillory’s wedding. The shop has become a place where Hillory meets new customers and develops friendships with her clients.
Their word-of-mouth reviews have been helpful in gaining a name for Twigs and Berries. One client in particular was Sandra Clark, who has since passed away. Hilory reminisced that Sandra would come in and always make her smile.
She attributes the success of the business to the community, “We are approaching year nine in May and statistically most small businesses don’t make it this long. We wouldn’t and couldn’t be here today without the continued support we’ve received from our local community. I’ve formed so many connections and friendships over the years. I look forward to doing that for many more.”
