Two Carroll County Schools high school students have been selected to attend Georgia’s Governor’s Honors Program this summer.
From Central High School, Emanuel Armira Montenegro was selected in the field of Mathematics. From Temple High School, Lucas Gilham was selected in the field of Agricultural Research, Biotechnology and Science.
“Congratulations to Emanuel and Lucas for their recognition by the Governor’s Honors Program,” Director of Middle Schools and High Schools Tim Gribben said. “This is a very prestigious honor that both have worked hard to achieve. Carroll County Schools continues to have students recognized for some of the most prestigious honors in our state.”
GHP is a four-week residential summer enrichment program – to be held this year June 16 through July 13 on the campus of Georgia Southern University – for gifted and talented rising high school juniors and seniors. Students who attend public, private, and home schools are eligible for nomination in one of 20 subject areas.
The program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom, designed to provide students with academic, cultural and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators and leaders. Georgia’s Governor’s Honors Program is the second oldest program of its kind in the country.
