Central High School Student selected as Governor’s Honors Program Finalist

Central High School junior Emanuel Armira Montenegro has the opportunity to experience the Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) this summer. Following an extensive application and interview process, Emanuel was selected to participate in the area of mathematics.

The Governor’s Honors Program is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors or seniors during the program. The program offers instruction that is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.

Emanuel is a member of the Marching Pride band, Beta Club and National Honor Society. He is the recipient of the University of Georgia Certificate of Merit and is a Junior Marshal. Central High School Principal Kelly Edwards had this to say about Emanuel, “We are extremely excited for Emanuel. His hard work and dedication are to be admired. He is a wonderful, well- rounded student and we are proud he is a Lion! Congratulations Emanuel, well deserved!”
