Mary Lois Griffis Named Carson Scholar

 Central High School junior Mary Lois Griffis was selected as a 2024 Carson Scholar. To be selected the applicant must demonstrate the highest standards of academic achievement, integrity, and civic and social responsibility. Students receiving this honor are awarded $1,000.

Mary Lois will have the opportunity to attend the Carson Scholars Fund’s Annual Chattanooga Awards Banquet to be recognized with her family and educators supporting the Carson Scholar Fund. 

The Carson Scholars Fund (CSF) was founded in 1994 by world renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson and his wife, Candy. CSF seeks to combat the American education crisis by discovering promise and rewarding excellence in our nation’s youth through scholarship programs. 

Mary Lois has just begun applying to universities for post-secondary education.
