Bremen Acquires Land for School District

The Bremen Board of Education held a special called meeting on Thursday to discuss the district acquiring additional property to support their schools’ future growth and expansion. They went into a brief executive session to have a conversation about land approval, purchase, and personnel.

After everyone reconvened, the board presented a resolution, which was unanimously approved, to purchase the property at 222 Bellwood Drive. The purpose of this purchase is to have available land for the future use and development of educational facilities and school-related activities. The school system is authorized to purchase the property from Steven and Candace Robbins for $625,000. The house and the surrounding approximate 3.78 acres located on the prof\perty are not necessary for school purposes, and the school system is authorized to sell the excess property for fair market value upon terms and conditions approved by Chairman Vann Pelt and Superintendent Shannon Christian.

The Board also unanimously approved giving the superintendent and chairman permission to enter into a purchase agreement for a tract of approximately seven acres of land on Lakeview Drive, currently owned by Dennis Thomas Reid, for the purpose of expanding the footprint at Jones Elementary School in the future.

Before concluding the meeting, Superintendent Christian said, “Thanks to the hard work and commitment of the Bremen Board of Education, and the decisions they made tonight, the campus of Jones Elementary School is poised to meet the needs of future Blue Devils for many decades to come. I have personally witnessed the vision, planning, and forethought of this Board during my 25 months as superintendent. Their actions fill me with excitement because I know what they mean for the next generation of students in this blessed school system.”

The Board also unanimously approved the hiring of three paraprofessionals and one teacher. In addition, three new companies were approved for contracted services including Pediatric Therapy Partners for occupational therapy services, Brianne Church for ELL/ESOL services, and Advance Care Partners, L. L. C. for nurse services.
