Fans will have two chances to meet and learn from best-selling author Sherrilyn Kenyon at the Carrollton Center for the Arts, September 5.
“Writers and readers do not want to miss this opportunity to spend some time with a literary legend,” said Center for the Arts Manager Tim Chapman. “It’s a chance to engage with an author that has appeared at the top of the New York Times Best Sellers list. She comes from our part of the world but her talent and imagination have created countless new worlds for readers to experience.”
Kenyon was born in Columbus, Georgia. Rising from extreme poverty as a child, she has become one of the most popular and influential authors in the world (in both adult and YA fiction), with dedicated legions of fans known as Paladins. Her urban fantasy and paranormal romance novels have sold more than 70 million copies in more than 100 countries and have won four Prism Awards, The Golden Quill and a Darrell Award. Her current series include: Dark-Hunters, Chronicles of Nick, Deadman’s Cross, Eve of Destruction, Nevermore, Lords of Avalon and The League. Her Lords of Avalon novels have been adapted by Marvel and her Dark-Hunters and Chronicles of Nick are New York Times best-selling manga, comics and adult coloring books.
The arts center’s Visiting Author Series brings popular writers and their fans together for face-to-face experiences. There will be a luncheon with Kenyon, September 5, 12 – 2pm at the center. The luncheon costs $30 (Carrollton Writers Guild members get a $5 discount). There is a limited amount of seats available, so those who are interested are encouraged to get their tickets now.
The luncheon will be followed by a workshop with the author: Where Pigs Fly: The Art of Worldbuilding, at 2pm. Participants will learn how to transform an ordinary literary setting into a memorable place readers will want to visit over and over again. The workshop costs $20 (Carrollton Writers Guild members get a $5 discount).
Tickets to both events are available online at carrolltonarts.com, by phone at 770-838-1083 and at the center’s box office at 251 Alabama Street in Carrollton.
