Roundabout Planned for SR 16 and Beulah Church Road

Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) awarded a contract to build a roundabout in Carrollton at the intersection of State Route 16 and Beulah Church Road. The $3.38 million contract was awarded to Vertical Earth Incorporated with the project slated to be completed by March 31, 2026.

The roundabout will improve safety conditions at the intersection once construction is completed. The intersection is currently an all-way stop, and it previously was set up as a two-way stop. Several crashes, some of which were serious, were reported at the intersection during both configurations. Roundabouts typically significantly reduce crashes and serious crashes because they require slower speeds at the intersection and decrease the chances of angled wrecks, which can cause serious injuries.

Construction on the roundabout is expected to get underway in the coming months. GDOT asks that motorists be careful when driving through the work zone and watch for crews that might be working in and along the roadway.

Advisory:Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
