Custom Crumb Cookies: The Sellers Twins Tackle College and Business

Avery and Ali Sellers, graduates of Carrollton High School and current college students at The Georgia Institute of Technology, are catching Carroll County’s attention. The twin sisters are only 21 years old and launched their business Custom Crumb in August, selling personalized cookies for any event.

The two began dreaming of their own business eight years ago, but Avery and Ali began their college careers as Chemistry Majors, pursuing careers in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. Ali shares, “We’d finish school and envision our business together, what it could be like. We knew we couldn’t continue this path and needed to jump into what our real passion is – what we really love.” At that time, Avery and Ali shifted their focus to Business at Georgia Tech.

Creative-X is a faculty-lead program at Georgia Tech, focusing on business, coaching students to learn, make, launch. Through this program, Avery and Ali combined their love of baking with their entrepreneurial grit and began networking for their business. After several interviews and technology trials, The Sellers found their niché and began filling orders.

Custom Crumb sells a variety of styles of their hand-crafted sugar cookie. Gluten-free and vegan-friendly options are available as well. Most significantly, Custom Crumb has the technology to personalize for any event: weddings, showers, parties, business events – the options are endless and bound to wow guests. Cookies are sold by the dozen and can be further customized with wrapping and packaging options, and delivery is offered within a 50-mile radius of Bremen. On their Instagram and in their website galley, you can find examples of previously made cookies.

Avery and Ali pay tribute to Carrollton High School: “Our education [at Carrollton High School] gave us wings and a vision by allowing room for creativity.” The two are also inspired by the tight-knit, small-town feel of Carrollton and Bremen, “The community aspect here is so strong, and that definitely inspired us to service our hometown rather than just the Atlanta area.”

Avery and Ali are passionate about their business and education in situ, believing that pursuing their degrees gives them significant insight to their futures and fruition of their business. Attending class in the morning hours and returning to work in the evening to make cookies and fill orders, Avery and Ali are proving to be ambitious and determined.

Ali continues, “From a young age, Avery and I were always teammates, coming up with crazy ideas together. It is still surreal that we’re actually doing this. We love the connections we’re making with other small businesses and the opportunities for personal growth.”
