The University of West Georgia is celebrating a significant milestone this fall, reaching its highest enrollment ever and continuing its trajectory of excellence and growth.

With around 14,400 Wolves enrolled at UWG, this achievement underscores the institution’s commitment to offering a transformative educational experience that attracts students from across the nation and around the globe.

The breakdown of the enrollment data recently released by the University System of Georgia (USG) showcases several key highlights:

  • Total Enrollment: With a Fall 2024 enrollment of 14,394 students, UWG experienced a 12.7% increase over the previous year, showcasing the exceptional experiences that attract students to UWG.
  • Graduate Enrollment: Since last fall, graduate enrollment increased by 21.4%, with 5,237 students choosing to pursue advanced degrees at UWG, highlighting UWG’s dedication to offering robust graduate programs that prepare students for success.
  • Retention: UWG reached another historic milestone in its retention of students from their first year into their second year this fall, with 77.5% of students choosing to return to UWG. This marks an increase of 1.5 percentage points over last year (the previous record).
  • Dual Enrollment: Dual enrollment grew by 75.5%, with 1,529 students choosing UWG for their dual enrollment journey, highlighting UWG’s reputation for providing enriched educational opportunities for high school students. Dual enrollment’s growth was buoyed, in part, by the Go West Early program’s expansion into Coweta County earlier this year.

“Our enrollment strategy is deeply rooted in enhancing the student experience, ensuring that we provide the necessary support and resources for every student to succeed and graduate on time,” said Kimberly Scranage, UWG’s vice president for strategic enrollment management. “We are thrilled to celebrate a record number of students at UWG, and we remain dedicated to delivering a transformative education that prepares them for a successful future.”

Dr. Ashwani Monga, UWG’s interim president, highlighted how record enrollments will lead to more students graduating and serving the region.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the highest enrollment in the history of the University of West Georgia,” said Dr. Ashwani Monga, UWG’s interim president. “There is more work to be done. We will keep pushing on our record-high retention of undergraduate students while providing exceptional academic offerings and experiential learning, so that more students graduate on time, and graduate with the talent needed for them to prosper, and for the region’s economy to thrive.”
