Many Carrollton locals can probably remember the construction that took place a few years ago on Maple Street across from American Pie. Since January of 2023, wHydrate has not just occupied the space but seamlessly integrated itself into the community by offering a wide variety of IV and injection therapies to help with many issues ranging from dehydration to migraines to hangovers. With each client leaving happy, franchise owners Colleen and Tristen Harwell earn more trust and friendship along the way.
Founded in 2016 in Kennesaw, Whydrate focuses on rehydrating and revitalizing patients experiencing fatigue and other issues. The med spa has since spread to cities like Alpharetta and even Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Originally from the Kennesaw area, the Harwells had careers in the wellness space, but looked for a change. Tristen had gained experience in sales and management in the health space throughout his career, while Colleen earned her RN degree. When the opportunity came about to open a Whydrate franchise in Carrollton, the pair took the leap to join forces: Tristen would run the administrative side of the business and Colleen would manage the healthcare aspects. As it so happened, Colleen’s sister – who often gets mistaken for her – had recently graduated with her nursing degree from the University of West Georgia and supported the Harwells in their journey to a new town.
Even though it’s been just shy of two years since the Carrollton wHydrate opened its doors, the Harwells share that they love how they have formed not only business connections, but friends along the way.
“We really love the connections we’ve made,” Tristen expresses. “We try to sponsor events and [when we do go to events], we offer free injections to show what we do to the public.”
A mere ten weeks before the medical spa opened, Colleen and Tristen welcomed their first child into the world, so many of Whydrate’s regular clients have witnessed their daughter grow and have seen Colleen blossom as a mom.
“Making people feel better than how they felt when they came in feels so good,” Colleen asserts. “We like to emphasize that we are a path to wellness and love seeing results.”
Many clients have opened up about their chronic illnesses and other issues to Colleen, which makes her feel trusted. She strives to create an environment where clients feel comfortable,
safe, and secure. In fact, she and the Whydrate team have created a system where clients can receive these injections or IV treatments in the most luxurious way possible.
Clients can walk into the clinic and expect to spend an hour with a professional getting to know who they are and what they are seeking. Then while the procedure takes place, patients can relax in a massage chair with a blanket while watching their favorite show on a provided screen. After the procedure is complete, patients can grab a complimentary snack and drink before they head out the door with smiles on their faces.
“We don’t want to feel like a hospital in the way that it’s cold and scary,” Tristen explains. “We use small needles, not like the ones you would use for immunizations or plasma extraction.”
All the nurses on staff are experienced in making the experience as safe and comfortable as possible. Rest assured that many clients have left happier and healthier and have left raving reviews, citing a professional and trustworthy staff.
