The Bremen Education Foundation (BEF) awarded 32 classroom grants totaling $26,000 today to educators across Bremen City Schools. Teachers, support staff, administrators, and media specialists were invited to apply for the grants, which were individually presented today, bringing excitement to both teachers and students alike.
“Today was a ‘fill-your-bucket’ kind of day,” said Christina Hightower, Director of the Bremen Education Foundation. “The teachers and students are equally excited to see BEF members walk into their classrooms and award the funds. It’s a wonderful moment of support and recognition.”
The BEF provides support to Bremen City Schools through three primary avenues: classroom grants, student scholarships, and field trips. In addition to the classroom grants, BEF allocates a benevolence fund to each school, helping address students’ immediate needs as they arise.
“Not only do we support students’ academic needs, but before a child can learn, their basic needs must be met,” Hightower explained. “Our goal is to make sure that students know they are cared for, and the BEF is proud to step in and facilitate when those basic needs need attention.”
This year, the BEF also funded a new SAT prep course at Bremen High School, which is already showing promising results. Twenty-four students have been pre-tested, their results analyzed, and individual growth plans have been developed to help them succeed on the SAT.
Since its inception in 2002, the Bremen Education Foundation has been a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the students and classrooms of all Bremen City Schools. The foundation’s annual fundraiser, “Stand Up for the Kids” Comedy Night, is scheduled for March 15th, 2025.
