Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Celebrates Three Generations of Women Funeral Directors on International Women’s Day During its 75th Anniversary Year

In honor of International Women’s Day, Jones-Wynn Funeral Home is proud to recognize the three generations of licensed women funeral directors who have played a significant role in shaping the firm’s history and legacy of compassionate service.

This year’s celebration holds even greater meaning as Jones-Wynn Funeral Home marks its 75th anniversary, reflecting on the dedicated women who have led and contributed to the family business for decades.

The late Shirley Jones made history as the first known female to be licensed as a funeral director in the state of Georgia, paving the way for women in the funeral profession. Her legacy continued through her daughter, Dana Jones Wynn, and now through her granddaughter, Ellen Wynn McBrayer, both of whom have devoted their careers to serving families with professionalism, strength, and care.

“For 75 years, Jones-Wynn Funeral Home has remained dedicated to providing families with compassionate and dignified service,” said Ellen Wynn McBrayer, President of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home. “As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, it is especially meaningful to also honor the trailblazing women in our profession who have helped shape not only our family’s legacy but the broader funeral service industry.”

As a family-owned and operated funeral home, Jones-Wynn Funeral Home has upheld a legacy of care that spans generations. The contributions of these women highlight the vital role female funeral directors play in providing comfort, support, and guidance to families during their most difficult times.

Jones-Wynn Funeral Home remains committed to honoring the past, embracing the present, and inspiring the future of women in funeral service.
