Eleven area poets present their work in a celebration of the poetry on Friday, April 18th at 6 pm at the Carrollton Center for the Arts. The evening will begin with a reception followed by original works remembering Eleanor Wolfe Hoomes, a long-time member of the Carrollton Writers Guild, an outstanding poet and the guiding force behind the Just Poetry subgroup.
Presenting poets include well known favorites Robert Covel, Cecilia Lee, Richard Anderson, Marc LaFountain, Cliff Perkins, and Gil Royal. Joining them are newer members Carol Abney, Alan Caldwell, Anne Halliwell, David Rozek, and Jessica Munn. Their poetry spans the genre from sonnets to experimental and presents images of everyday life to the sacred.
Their creativity and enthusiasm keeps the spirit of poetry alive and well in Carrollton. Please join us for wine and hors d’oeuvres followed by the readings.
The Carrollton Writers Guild is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging the literary arts. Participation is open to adults writing fiction/nonfiction, memoirs, and poetry. It is a supportive environment providing skill enhancement and critique. For more information, visit carrolltonwritersguild.org.
