Central High School recognized three (3) outstanding students with Coca Cola awards during Honors & Awards Night.
The Coca Cola Achievement award was given to Cassandra Mercier for dedicating her life to riding horses, her true passion and lifelong pursuit. Her grit, grace and discipline in the saddle have earned her a something most can only dream of a scholarship to the University of Georgia as a member of their prestigious equestrian team. Her strength does not stop at the stables. She’s also a standout in her school and community. She’s taken on leadership and service through involvement in FFA, Interact Club, Beta Club, Pickleball Club, and the Environmental Club, always showing up, giving back, and making a difference.
The Coca Cola Scholar Athlete award was given to Mary Lois Griffis. Mary Lois has a staggering 4.6 grade point average, has completed 13 advanced placement courses, 10 dual enrollment courses, and earned the prestigious title of AP Scholar with Distinction, 2024 Carson Scholar and the University of Georgia Certificate of Merit. She is the STAR Student for both Central High School and Carroll County Schools. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and a standout competitor on the Math Team. As a varsity cheerleader she played a vital role in leading her team to a State Championship in 2023 and State Runner Up title in 2024.
The Coca Cola Extra Mile award was given to Allie Edwards. She was given this award for the character she displays in her daily life. She serves in numerous leadership roles with Key Club, Student Council, and she has been captain of the varsity girls basketball team, a dedicated athlete in basketball, flag football, and volleyball. What sets her apart is not just what she does, but how she does it. This year she made one of the most difficult decisions any athlete can face: to undergo surgery, knowing it would mean missing her senior season, a season she had worked for, dreamt about, and earned. Instead of stepping away, she stepped up.
She came to every practice, every game, and stood on the sidelines with strength, loyalty, and the heart of a champion. She didn’t let injury define her – she redefined what it means to lead. Not just in the spotlight, but when no one is watching. She stood tall, supported her team, and showed everyone what it looks like to face adversity with grace and courage.
