Two Carrollton High School alumni, Jamie Tuggle (‘14) and Daniel Maxwell (‘20), have been selected to serve a two-year term on the University of Georgia’s Young Alumni Leadership Council. Through this committee, they will mentor current UGA students, plan and execute events and initiatives aimed at connecting graduates back to the university, and work strategically with the alumni association and on-campus faculty.
As ambassadors for the university, council members are encouraged to demonstrate their commitment to UGA by growing meaningful connections, implementing university initiatives, and guiding future generations of Bulldogs.
Quarterly, the council meets in Athens to review information and provide feedback to the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, organize young alumni social and volunteer events, evaluate philanthropic objectives, and plan promotional and outreach activities. Along with their council duties, they also serve as mentors for the UGA Mentor Program, which connects students with alumni to help them build valuable personal, academic, and professional networks.
Upon graduation from CHS in their respective years, the two Trojans chose to attend the University of Georgia, where they pursued their studies and subsequently built their careers. They are both eager to grow professionally through the program, while also giving back to their alma mater.
With a passion for education, Tuggle returned to CHS to begin teaching in the fall of 2018, after graduating from UGA with degrees in English and English Education. She taught for several years before becoming the district’s Communications Coordinator in January 2025. In her role, she manages district social media and creates communication content for the district, including newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials. During her time at UGA, she ran her own small business, was actively involved in the Wesley Foundation campus ministry, and served on the executive council of her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha.
“As an educator, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges young adults face when transitioning from high school to college and into the workforce, which is why a strong support system and academic foundation, like I had at Carrollton City Schools, is essential to success,” said Tuggle. “It is a true honor to serve on the UGA Young Alumni Leadership Council and apply my experiences to mentor students and give back to a place that helped me grow into the person I am today.”
Serving on the leadership council’s membership committee, Tuggle works with her team to organize both social and community service events and assists with recruitment for and management of the leadership committee.
After graduating in 2024 from UGA with a degree in Business Management, Maxwell took his talents to work for the office of Governor Brian Kemp in Atlanta. In his role, he serves as a trusted aide and strategist to the Governor, managing executive-level communications and acting as liaison to senior staff, agency heads, and external stakeholders to ensure policy and political alignment. While attending UGA, Maxwell was involved in a variety of campus organizations, including student government and lobbying groups, and Greek life through his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon.
“I joined the Young Alumni Leadership Council to help recent graduates stay connected to UGA and build a foundation of service and giving early in their alumni journey,” Maxwell said. “As a recent graduate myself, I know how quickly students can feel disconnected once they leave Athens, and I want to bridge that gap by encouraging involvement, mentorship, and networking opportunities.”
As a member of the philanthropy committee for the YALC, Maxwell is passionate about creating financial flexibility for students through programs and scholarships.
Much like the strong ties connecting Carrollton High alumni, UGA works to inspire graduates to unite for a purpose. By writing letters to prospective students, speaking with current student organizations, and fundraising for scholarships, Tuggle and Maxwell are applying their passion for community to the UGA Alumni Council to strengthen a new generation of Bulldogs.
