A big sports project is headed to LaGrange. Selig Enterprises has sold 45 acres of land at its Sola development (near Great Wolf Lodge) to a group behind the DAS Cricket Academy and NJ Blackcaps. They plan to build Georgia’s first professional cricket stadium on the site and it’ll also be the first privately owned cricket stadium in the U.S, according to a press release.
Construction starts this fall, and the stadium is expected to open in early 2027. It’ll seat 10,500 people (with room to grow) and meet international cricket standards. A soccer field and hotel are also part of the plans.
Several other local news outlets have shared this story too, as the project is getting a lot of attention in the area.
