Approved by City Council on FEB 2
A rezoning and special use permit request to build a gas station at the intersection of Brumbelow Road and Alabama Street is under consideration in Carrollton. The applicant, Arpit Patel, is seeking to rezone 0.84 acres from M-1 (Light Industry) to C-2 (General Commercial) to allow for the construction of a convenience store with gasoline service, along with a retail or restaurant tenant space.
The project includes shared access with an adjacent liquor store and proposes an additional curb cut along Alabama Street. A concept plan and architectural drawings were submitted as part of the request. While the site is located in an area already designated for commercial use, public safety concerns were raised due to high call volumes at nearby businesses.
City staff recommended approval with conditions, including the installation of Flock cameras at all entrances for added security and that any curb cuts on Alabama Street must be reviewed and permitted by the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The proposal will go before the Mayor and City Council for a final decision on February 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
